“Keep The Change” fineprint…

February 20, 2007

A few months ago, I posted about Bank Of America’s Keep The Change Program. The deal seemed simple. whenever you use your Bank Of America card, they’ll round your purchase up to the nearest dollar and put the change in your savings account. For the first three months, they’ll match your purchases.

Anyway, I signed up an noticed that, although my change was going into my saving account, Bank of America wasn’t matching my deposits. A few rounds with really unhelpful customer service later, and I recieved this email:

Please be advised that all Keep the Change transfers will be matched at
100% during the first 90 days of signing up and 5% thereafter.

Our records indicate that your account was enrolled for the Keep the
Change service on **/**/**. The promotional match will be paid annually
into the designated savings account within eight weeks after the
anniversary date of the Keep the Change enrollment, so long as both the
checking and savings are still enrolled and in good standing at that
time .

I hope I’m not overdrawn in January, 2008.
