Cyber Monday

November 29, 2008

Did you brave the crowds and find all the items on your shopping list on Black Friday? If you are like me, then you didn’t. But there is still hope to find huge savings on those Christmas list items.

The Monday after Thanksgiving is known as Cyber Monday. It’s a good day to find deals on websites. You can get a rundown of all the special offers at CyberMonday.com.

I need to process everything I bought and check everything off my shopping list. Then I will know exactly what else I need to buy. There are some items that I will be buying from the Internet so Monday might just be the perfect time to fill that virtual shopping cart.

Black Friday Shopping Tips

November 27, 2008

After all the eating and football on Thursday, it’s time to hit the stores early Friday morning. This season there has already been many sales but none are as deep and as fun as those on Black Friday. Here are some pointers from a seasoned Black Friday shopper on shopping and finding deals on Black Friday.

While there are several websites devoted to Black Friday deals. First, spend time visiting those websites to find the ads from the stores you plan to shop at. Then make a list of everything of interest to you. This isn’t necessarily a shopping list but a maybe shopping list. Jot down the store, item, and price as this will make it easy to find it and to comparison shop, too.

Get a good night’s rest and set that alarm for an hour before the first sale begins. You should dress for comfort for these early sales. Get out the jogging suit and comfortable tennis shoes because you can expect to spend a lot of time waiting in line to check out and sometimes for the actual merchandise.

Drink some coffee or soda to get wide awake by the time the sale begins. This is especially important if you are not a morning person.

If you are a woman, empty that purse but of the bare minimums. No need to carry around extra weight during the day. Keep your purse with you and don’t place it in the shopping cart. With extra people out shopping you can never be too careful.

Please don’t fight someone for the last of an item. Remember that there are thousands of stores that are available to you thanks to the Internet that will be anxious to take your money this holiday season. Sure Black Friday has some great deals but so does Cyber Monday.

Redbox Code 11.24.2008

November 24, 2008

This weekend I was rented movies from Redbox. The Redbox showed up at our local Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. We happened to be at Wal-Mart when I thought this is the perfect time to rent from it.

It was super easy and I will be doing this again. In fact, I may start taking advantage of the free rental codes that are released every Monday. Here is today’s free code -

2MNC92

When renting, there will be a button to touch to add any promo codes to your order. It took less than 5 minutes to rent two movies from Redbox. It will definitely spoil you that’s for sure.

Black Friday

November 19, 2008

If there is something on your shopping list this holiday, then chances are pretty good that you can find it on sale on Black Friday – especially if it’s electronics, video games, or toys.

One of the best sources to find local Black Friday deals is the local newspaper. Buy one Thanksgiving day or the day before(if their isn’t one published Thanksgiving) to find a cornucopia of Black Friday sales ads. If you can’t wait until then, there are some websites(well several!) that have posted Black Friday ads for 2008. Here are a few of them -

Makes those lists and hit the stores early.

Target Black Friday Deals

November 17, 2008

It’s hard to believe that Black Friday is just a mere 14 days away. There have been many leaks about Black Friday deals. One of interest is the Target Black Friday deal list.

There will be a selection of DVDs for $3.98 plus TV shows on DVD for $8.98 – including season one of ‘The Office.’ Some good deals on kids’ board games as well as video games, too.

It looks like I’ve found my first stop on my day of shopping for sure.

Free Photo Book

November 16, 2008

It seems it is the season for free photo books. Shutterfly has a deal until November 17th. Plus if you are doing the My Coke Rewards, you can get a free photo book for just 285 points from Snapfish.

For Shutterfly, you will have to make a purchase and then use a coupon code that was mailed out to members to get in on the deal. So if you get email from Shutterfly, check it because it might be a good deal. Get those Christmas photo cards and knock out a gift all in one fell swoop.

Early Black Friday Deals?

November 10, 2008

It seems each holiday season that the sales start earlier and earlier. With the current state of the economy, it didn’t really surprise me to see all the sales at local retailers.

One local business is even offering Black Friday prices this weekend. That sale ends Veteran’s Day. We are just at the beginning of November and already sales have begun that are as big as Black Friday.

While I’m sure many people will be spending less and watching every dollar, it looks like stores will be competing very hard for your money. That could mean great bargains this holiday. Oh how nice it would be to actually stay within budget.

Word of Mouth

November 5, 2008

Yesterday my sister-in-law told me about a sale at a local store. Apparently they have children’s sweatshirts for 50 cents each. She thought of me since I have a toddler and we are needing some warmer clothes for winter.

People love to share good news and most of us would agree that when we find a bargain that it is good news. Usually when people are shopping, they are shopping for others. So it makes sense when they see clothing, electronics, and other products that they are reminded of those people in their lives who are in the market to buy certain items.

So the next time you get a call, text message, or email from friend, don’t delay. It could be news of a good deal that will save you a lot of money.

Election Day Rewards

November 4, 2008

Get out and vote today. There are several businesses that are looking to reward those who vote today. Here’s what your “I voted” sticker can get you:

Krispy Kreme – free donut pin

Starbucks – free coffee

Books-a-million – free cup of Joe

Ben and Jerry’s – free scoop of ice cream from 5-8pm.

There are possibly more businesses that are giving discounts to those with their sticker. Some local business in Los Angeles are offering free drinks or discounted pizza. Polls close at 7pm. Expect to have to wait as turnout for today’s presidential election is predicted to be heavy.
