Tonight is 31 Cent Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins. The price of a single scoop will only cost 31 cents in honor of America’s firefighters. Many locations will be taking donations for local fire departments.

$1 Deals at Wal-Mart

Have you been to Wal-Mart lately? If you are like me then you might feel you spend more time at Wally World than you do at home. Our local Wal-Mart has added a $1 aisle. You can find drinks, food, toiletries, and more. It can definitely help when trying to stock up on some supplies like toilet paper and toothpaste.

While more people may be shopping at the dollar store to save money these days, it seems Wal-Mart has taken notice and dropped some of their prices to $1. I am glad to see this as Wal-Mart has been consistently raising their prices the past year.

It’s nice to see deals actually at Wal-Mart again.

Everyday with Rachael Ray

The May issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray features the usual 30 minute meals and other recipes. It also has details of a huge giveaway by Rachael Ray.

The issue will have a rundown of all the big deal giveaways like a flat screen TV, Kitchen appliances, and more. The giveaways will be going on until June 7, 2009.

After Holiday Sales

If you are looking for deals, then shop after any major holiday. Holiday items are usually slashed 50% off the day after. Check back a week later for even bigger sales but expect less merchandise since it will be well picked over.

Going the day after a major holiday will be the best time to shop for deals since there will be plenty of items to choose from. You can stock up for next year, buy treats for your kids, or buy for a Sunday school or other class.

If you are buying for next year, then you will need to store it somewhere that you will not forget about it. Buy a large plastic storage box and write on the side ‘holiday.’ Then place those great finds in it. Then before next year’s holiday, go through your stash to see if you need to pick up anything else. Since the storage box is well marked, it’s easy to find it you place it in storage or a closet.

Shopping after a holiday will net you plenty of great finds that you can use in a variety of different ways. Plus it will save you money and get you that much more prepared for next year.
